Long Beach held the biggest campus budget rally to date yesterday, with 2,000 people in attendance. Long Beach City Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal urged the audience to speak up for the CSU:
"We need to get our elected representatives to understand that forfeiting our prospects for a happy tomorrow in order to balance the budget today is short-sighted at best and self-destructive at worst," Lowenthal said.Update:
Chapter Unit 9 Representative Matthew Black reports the Alliance for the CSU collected 1300 sign-up cards at the event.
Chapter Unit 7 Representative Leanne Hayes says
It was refreshing to see so many students eager to get involved... We had tables set up for people to send e-mail messages to their legislators on laptops – and other tables for writing letters. The Alliance provided free pizza and snacks for all.
